In the flashback, we witness Anand's early days in the police force, inspired by his retired police officer father, Narayana Pillai. Anand is posted as the Sub-Inspector at the Kottayam police station, where his first major case involves the disappearance of a young Christian girl named Lovely Mathan. His investigation leads him to a nearby vicarage, but when he attempts to question the priest, he is met with fierce resistance from the local parishioners. Due to the religious sensitivity of the case, Anand is removed from the investigation, and the corrupt DYSP Alex takes over.
