However, in the religious and cultural context of NU, tahlil (often referred to as tahlilan ) encompasses a complete sequence of prayers, including Al-Fatihah , several short chapters ( surah ) from the Qur’an, prayers for the Prophet Muhammad (salawat), istighfar (seeking forgiveness), tasbih (glorifying Allah), tahmid (praising Allah), and takbir (declaring Allah's greatness).
